Trapped Bird In Storm Drain Rescued By Firefighters In Union County

Volunteer firefighters were called to The Grove at Connell Park to help the young bird on Sunday.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Volunteer firefighters rescued a bird trapped in a storm drain in Berkeley Heights on Sunday.

On Sunday, the Berkeley Heights Fire Department was called to The Grove at Connell Park to help in rescuing a young Northern Mockingbird that had fallen into a storm drain.

"Thanks to the quick and compassionate efforts of the crew, the fledgling was safely recovered and is now in the care of The Raptor Trust for evaluation and rehabilitation," said Berkeley Heights Fire Department.
