Water Safety Starts at the Y: Swim Lessons Build Confidence, Skill, and Safety Around Water
Register Now for Youth Swim Lessons at the Westfield Area YMCA and Cranford YMCA

As temperatures rise, families naturally gravitate toward pools, lakes, and beaches. But while summer is a time for fun in the water, it’s also a critical time to talk about safety. Drowning is one of the leading causes of preventable death among children in the U.S., claiming nearly 900 young lives each year. Children in communities of color face even higher risks, making swim safety education more important than ever. The Westfield Area YMCA and Cranford YMCA are committed to turning the tide through life-saving swim lessons that teach essential skills, build confidence, and create safer communities.
Our lessons are designed for all ages and abilities—whether your child is just getting comfortable in the water or looking to improve stroke technique. Our progressive approach ensures that swimmers move at their own pace, gaining skills that last a lifetime.
The Summer session begins June 22, and registration is open now! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to equip your child with the tools they need to stay safe and thrive in the water.
