Watermain Break Closes Route 82 In Both Directions In Union
The roadway is expected to be closed through rush hour on Wednesday morning.

UNION, NJ - A broken water main has caused Route 82/Morris Avenue to close in both directions for emerency repairs near the Lowes shopping center in Union Township on Tuesday.
The watermain broke around 7 a.m. near the entrance to the Lowes shopping center in Union Township.
Crews are in the process of making repairs, which are expected to be completed before rush hour Wednesday morning, said New Jersey Department of Transportation.

If work is completed earlier, the roadway will open sooner. The following detours will remain in place until further notice:
Route 82 eastbound Detour:

- Motorists on Route 82/Morris Avenue eastbound will be directed to turn left onto Stuyvesant Avenue
- Turn right onto Vauxhall Road
- Turn right on Salem Road back to Route 82/Morris Avenue eastbound
Route 82 westbound Detour:
- Motorists on Route 82/Morris Avenue westbound will be directed to turn right onto Salem Road
- Turn left onto Vauxhall Road
- Turn left onto Stuyvesant Avenue back to Route 82/Morris Avenue
