WESTFIELD, NJ — Candidates Jeremy Berman (D) and Mike Domogala (R) reacted on Wednesday to their battle at the ballot box vying for a four-year term as Westfield Mayor on Tuesday night.

Berman leads Domogala as of the latest unofficial results. All districts have reported, according to the Union County Clerk's Office.

"I am deeply honored and humbled that the residents of Westfield have placed their trust in me," Berman said Wednesday afternoon. "This victory isn't about us, it's about a community that believes we can listen to each other, work together, and make progress that benefits everyone."

Among the major issues on the minds of voters throughout Westfield was public safety. The Westfield Police Department continues to work on reducing the number of high-end cars being broken into each year.

Another sticking point voters wanted a candidate to deliver more answers on is overdevelopment. Projects like One Westfield Place have been met with legal challenges and continue to cause division among the residents, advocacy organizations, and the town.

"Throughout this campaign, we stayed focused on what matters most to our residents: public safety, responsible development, infrastructure, parks and recreation," Berman added. "We offered positivity, practical ideas, and results-driven solutions."

Both candidates also offered their support Wednesday to their colleagues along party lines who ran down the ticket for Westfield Council.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Democrats lead in each of the Wards. All districts have been reported.

Note: Results are not official until certified by the County Clerk 15 days after Election Day.

Jeremy Berman

"I am deeply honored and humbled that the residents of Westfield have placed their trust in me. Congratulations to my Democratic slate mates Reshma, Vik, Jenn and Drew. This victory isn’t about us, it’s about a community that believes we can listen to each other, work together, and make progress that benefits everyone.

Throughout this campaign, we stayed focused on what matters most to our residents: public safety, responsible development, infrastructure, parks and recreation. We offered positivity, practical ideas, and results-driven solutions, and that message resonated.

I am profoundly grateful to every volunteer who knocked on doors, made phone calls, talked to neighbors, and believed in what we were building together. I am so proud of the campaign we ran and of the people who made it possible. And to my family, thank you for your love, your patience, and your unwavering belief in me. I could not have done this without you.

I also want to thank Councilman Domogala for his commitment to this community and for running a spirited campaign. At the end of the day, we all wear the Westfield jersey. We care deeply about keeping this town a great place to live, work, and raise our families, and I look forward to working together.

Ultimately, we are stewards of Westfield, and our responsibility is to leave it better than we found it. I am ready to lead with accessibility, accountability, and civility, and get to work for Westfield.”

Michal Domogala

"We had a great slate of candidates and gave it our all. I couldn’t be more proud of Liz, Jason, Danny, and Keith. I’m also deeply grateful to my family for their love and support throughout this campaign. I look forward to continuing to serve Ward 3 to the best of my ability and extend my sincere thanks to the wonderful residents who supported us along the way."
