Westfield Area YMCA Devilfish Compete In 2024 Championships
The Eastern Zone Short Course Age Group Championships were held at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY.
WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Area YMCA Devilfish competed in the 2024 Eastern Zone Short Course Age Group Championships held at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY March 27 to 30.
This multistate meet brought together 886 top qualifying swimmers from 204 competitive swim teams.
The Westfield Area YMCA Devilfish 2024 Zone Team consisted of 9 swimmers: Olivia Babeu, Daniella Eriksson, Jacob Galczynski, Kaylie Gao, Alex Giangone, Catherine Kavanagh, James Kavanagh, Jonathan Peterson, and James Sletteland.

Several Devilfish team records were broken at this meet including Alex Giangone (Boys 13-14 100 Fly), Danielle Eriksson (Girls 13-14 1650 Free), and Kaylie Gao (Girls 13-14 400 IM).
The following swimmers and relay teams had top 20 place finishes at the Championship:

Girls 11-12:
Olivia Babeu (20th 200 Breast), Catherine Kavanagh (22nd 50 Fly).
Girls 13-14:
Daniella Eriksson (7th 1650 Free, 16th 500 Free, 17th 100 Breast), Kaylie Gao (7th 400 IM, 14th 200 Back).
Boys 13-14:
Jacob Galczynski (4th 200 Free Relay, 12th 400 Medley Relay), Alex Giangone (13th 100 Fly, 16th 400 IM, 19th 50 Free, 4th 200 Free Relay, 8th 200 Medley Relay, 12th 400 Medley Relay), James Kavanagh (16th 200 Back, 19th 200 Free, 8th 200 Medley Relay, 12th 400 Medley Relay), Jonathan Peterson (16th 200 Free, 18th 100 Free, 4th 200 Free Relay, 8th 200 Medley Relay, 12th 400 Medley Relay), James Sletteland (4th 200 Free Relay, 8th 200 Medley Relay).
