UPDATE: Democrats lead in each race as of the latest unofficial results on Wednesday. All districts have reported, according to the Union County Clerk's Office.


WESTFIELD, NJ — The polls are closed and votes are being tallied for Westfield's battle at the ballot box for Council seats.

Eight candidates are on the ballot across four wards, hoping to win one of two seats with a four-year term.

Among the major issues on the minds of voters is public safety. The Westfield Police Department continues to work on reducing the number of high-end cars being broken into each year.

Another sticking point voters are looking for more answers on is overdevelopment. Projects like One Westfield Place have been met with legal challenges and continue to cause division among the residents, advocacy organizations, and the town.
