Westfield Fire Department 150th Anniversary Celebration Is Saturday

The event will include a parade to showcase fire trucks, vintage apparatus, and community groups followed by a celebration at the Armory.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Fire Department will be celebrating its 150th anniversary on Saturday.

Parade

The event kicks off with a parade at 11 a.m. going through Downtown Westfield to showcase fire trucks, vintage apparatus, and community groups.

Parade Route:

  • Start at North Ave & East Broad Street
  • Proceed east on East Broad Street through Downtown Westfield
  • Turn right on Central Avenue
  • Turn right on North Avenue (westbound)
  • Turn left onto East Broad Street / MLK Jr Circle / South Avenue
  • Continue west on South Avenue
  • Turn left on West Broad Street
  • Turn left on Rahway Avenue
  • Parade concludes at First Street near the Westfield Armory

  • East Broad between North and Central
  • Central between East Broad and North

  • Rahway from West Broad to the Armory
Parade Route

Parking will be prohibited along the parade route — on East Broad Street, Central Avenue, North Avenue, and a portion of Rahway Avenue — beginning at 9 a.m.

Street closures will be implemented along the parade route from around 10:45 a.m. through noon. Police officers will be on site to direct traffic and detours as needed.

Celebration

Following the parade is a celebration at the Armory from 1 to 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public, featuring games, food, drinks, and more.

  • Mass Pipe Band performance at approx. 1:00 PM
  • Live music throughout the day
  • Historical items and artifacts on display, highlighting WFD’s legacy since 1875
  • Artwork auction items available for bidding
  • Family-friendly activities including games and interactive displays
  • Food trucks and a variety of beverages, including a custom brew from Lions Roar Brewing Co.
  • Raffle drawing at 5 p.m.
  • Anniversary merchandise available for purchase: mugs, shirts, coins, and books
  • Cash preferred, but credit cards will be accepted
