WESTFIELD, NJ — While the Westfield Fire Department was cleaning and power washing the catch basins in Mindowaskin Pond on Thursday, they discovered a family of ducklings that were in danger.

The Fire Department was working on the pond to ensure water was adequately flowing, according to a Facebook post. Later that day, crews were dispatched to help ducklings that were stuck in the spillway while the mother duck was up in the pond.

Firefighters position a two x four as a "plank" to allow that ducklings to walk back up to the pond. Within a few minutes, the ducklings found the plank and were reunited with their mother, Westfield Fire Department said.
