Westfield Husband, Wife Duo To Open Sunless Tanning Salon

WESTFIELD, NJ — Husband and wife duo and Westfield residents Kyle Healy and Mary Claire Choplin are looking to bring the luxury experience of sunless tanning with goGlow to town.

goGLOW is opening its first New Jersey location in Westfield at 500 Central Ave. The couple will host a launch party for their new business on Thursday, March 20.

Founded by Melanie Richards, a former probation officer turned beauty executive, goGLOW boasts patented technology and non-toxic, vegan skincare products made in the U.S.

"What made me really like this franchise model is it's a pilot brand. There's nothing in the beauty or the tanning industry that's like this," said Choplin to Patch. "It's more of a luxury experience. So when we were looking over which franchise we wanted to invest our money in, goGLOW, stuck out for many reasons."

According to goGLOW, customers will experience a custom, skin-loving treatment using a patented air-filtration system that has been meticulously designed to prioritize health and comfort for clients and employees while delivering a precise airbrush tanning experience.

Choplin was very familiar with the spray tanning experience before buying goGLOW. She had danced her whole life and was Miss Dance USA. She was also on a division one competitive dance team.

"I've known spray tans and tanning solutions since I was eight, just being in dance pageants... and what I saw was the difference between all of the different spray tan solutions versus goGLOW," said Choplin. "When it comes to spray tanning, it's like the streakiness, the orange, it's all over your sheets. You have to hold your breath during your session. Versus at goGLOW is just completely different. What I like about it is that it balances your pH and repairs your skin barrier while you're wearing it. There's no smell. It's just totally different."

After discovering goGLOW, Choplin convinced Healy to try it out.

"It was easy, and it didn't feel weird. And a couple days later, I was with a bunch of buddies golfing, and they're like, 'Man, do you do you even work anymore? You're so tan. You look so good. You must just be golfing all the time," said Healy. "And the fact that they thought it was natural, and I had just been outside, and it was what turned me to goGLOW."

Impressed by the product, Choplin and Healy are already looking at open more franchise locations in Union and Somerset counties in the near future.
