The Dalton State sophomore was the college's first National Athlete of the Week winner.

A Westfield native and Dalton State College sophomore has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Golfer of the Week.

Sean Elliott, a sophomore studying marketing, was selected for the NAIA Golfer of the Week honors for the week of April 13 through April 19. During that week, Elliott was the individual medalist at the SSAC Men’s Golf Championship at the par-70, 6,439 yards Montgomery Country Club, according to Dalton State Sports Information.

“This is an awesome achievement for Sean and Dalton State,” Roadrunner Men’s Golf Coach Ben Rickett said. “To get recognized for any reason on a national level is fantastic. He is proving week in, week out that he can compete at the highest level and I am proud of his accomplishment.”
