Westfield Natives Inducted Into Prestigious Honor Societies

Students from The College of New Jersey and the University of Scranton are among local natives to receive honors.

A pair of Westfield natives were recently inducted into prestigious honor societies at their respective institutions of higher education and a third graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors.

Nicole Eniclerico was among the students at the University of Scranton to be inducted into Eta Sigma Gamma, the national health education honor society. Eniclerico is a senior pursiong a degree in community health education at the university.

Eta Sigma Gamma is open to all community healt education majors with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher in the major and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. The Eta Sigma Gamma chapter at the University of Scranton was founded in 2012.

The second of two Westfield natives inducted into prestigious honor societies was Daniel Eliades. Eliades was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at The College of new Jersey.

The Phi Beta Kappa chapter at TCNJ is one of only four in the state of New Jersey. Phi Beta Kappa is widely considered to be the nation’s oldest academic honor society, founded by five students at the College of William and Mary in 1776 during the American Revolution.

Additionally, Westfield native Thomas Sweeney recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Economics. Sweeney was one of more than 1,100 candidates for graduation at Coastal Carolina University’s commencement ceremony on May 9.

In order to be eligible to graduate with Magna Cum Laude honors, students at Coastal Carolina University must have an overall GPA between 3.750 and 3.999.
