Westfield's Town Clerk Re-Appointed To Second Term

Maureen Lawshe was first appointed as Westfield's Town Clerk in May 2022.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Maureen Lawshe was re-appointed to her second three-year term as Town Clerk at the Tuesday night Council meeting.

"I am confident the Town will continue to benefit from Maureen's knowledge, leadership, and dedication for years to come," said Mayor Shelley Brindle at the meeting.

Brindle swore in Lawshe at the meeting for her second three-year term, effective immediately.

Lawshe was first hired in 2014 as the Town Clerk's Apprentice. During this time, she worked primarily in the Town Clerk's office and also spent time working in the police records bureau and the town assessor's office.

She obtained her registered municipal clerk certificate in 2016 in the state of New Jersey while also obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Kean University.

Lawshe was promoted to Deputy Town Clerk in 2017. She also earned her Master's degree in Public Administration in fall 2021 and was a graduate research assistant for her last semester for the Public Administration Office at Kean University.

"Maureen was first appointed as our Town Clerk in May 2022 where she excels in a role serving the public by administrating elections including today’s primary, fulfilling OPRA requests, recording all public meetings and overseeing various licensing requirements throughout Town as well as talking to all the girl scout groups I bring to her office," said Brindle.

"In addition to her daily duties, she continues to be a great leader in the town clerk’s office as well as a role model for other clerks throughout the state as she continues to seek out creative solutions and technology to streamline municipal processes for residents and staff," said Brindle.
