Westfield School Board Preview: Employee Vaccines, Virtual Class

Westfield's School Board meeting will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield's Board of Education is meeting Tuesday night and there are several items on the agenda to review.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Cafeteria B of Westfield High School, at 550 Dorian Road. All attendees must wear masks. A public speak portion will be allowed and speakers will have three minutes to address the board. Individuals must state their name and address for the record.

On Tuesday night's agenda are several policies for the district including school employee vaccination.

"The Board shall adopt and maintain a policy that requires all covered workers to either provide adequate proof that they have been fully vaccinated or submit to COVID-19 testing at a minimum of one to two times each week," the policy reads.

Another policy on the agenda is emergency virtual learning:

"In the event the school district is required to close a school or the schools of the district for more than three consecutive school days due to a declared state of emergency, declared public health emergency, or a directive by the appropriate health agency or officer to institute a public health related closure, the Commissioner of Education shall allow the district to apply to the 180 day requirement established pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:7F-9, one or more days of virtual or remote instruction provided to students on the day or days the schools of the district were closed if the program of virtual or remote instruction meets such criteria as may be established by the Commissioner Education," the policy reads.
