Westfield Seeks Vendors For AddamsFest 2022 Beer + Wine Garden
Back for the fifth time, the October festival will celebrate the legacy of Charles Addams — the Westfield native behind 'The Addams Family.'
WESTFIELD, NJ — Believe it or not, October is only a few months away and Westfield is already preparing for AddamsFest 2022 — a celebration of Westfield native Charles Addams, the creator of the famously creepy cartoon "The Addams Family."
The town has issued a request for proposals for a beer and wine garden concession at AddamsFest, which is to be held on Oct. 22. This year marks the fifth iteration of AddamsFest, where the town will be transformed into all things Charles Addams.
According to the RFP, the town is looking for a qualified business to operate either a beer garden concession, wine concession or both. Applicants must be licensed within the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

"The qualified business entity or entities will be selected through a competitive, quality-based, fair, and open process," the RFP states.
Throughout the month of October, Westfield pays homage to Addams with family-themed events, movie screenings, exhibits and much more. Westfield chose the month of October for the festival, as its proximity to Halloween and "spooky season" was fitting for celebrating a man like Addams.

Born in 1912 and raised in Westfield, Addams was one of the country's premier cartoonists and his work was prominently featured in The New Yorker.
His most successful creation, "The Addams Family," was inspired by his hometown surroundings, an area full of ornate Victorian mansions and archaic graveyards.
The famous Addams house is still located on Elm Street in Westfield, where Addams lived for 27 years.
The characters that began as illustrations grew into a television series in the 1960s, a live action movie franchise, a Broadway musical and a 2019 animated film with a 2021 sequel.
In October of 2020, Addams was also inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
