Westfield Superintendent Honored With Regional Award
He is being honored for his vision, creativity, and compassion.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The leader of Westfield Public Schools will be honored later this month by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA).
Chief Education Officer Dr. Raymond A. Gonzalez was named one of two 2026 NJASA Regional Superintendents of the Year. He is being honored for his vision, creativity, and compassion that shows under his leadership.
NJASA Executive Director Dr. Richard G. Bozza calls Gonzalez's efforts as clearly, "making a lasting difference for the students, staff, and communities."

Gonzalez joined Westfield Public Schools in August 2021. He previously served as Superintendent of the Westwood Regional School District, Superintendent in Wayne Township, and Interim Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Hackensack Public Schools.
“It is truly an honor and a reflection of the extraordinary work happening across all our schools," said Gonzalez of his recognition. "I’m deeply grateful to our students, staff, families, and Board of Education, as this recognition reaffirms our shared commitment to fostering inclusive, innovative learning environments where every child can thrive.”

A group of past NJASA Presidents and former Regional Superintendents of the Year will now select the 2026 New Jersey winner between Gonzalez and Dr. John R. Giacchi of Franklin Borough School District. The honoree will then go on to represent the state as a candidate in the nationwide School Superintendents Association competition.
The National Superintendent of the Year will be announced at the group's Conference on Education in February 2026.
