Man Fired Gun Multiple Times At Occupied Car In Union County, Charged: Police

Authorities said they believe the shooting may be related to other recent violence in the area.

LINDEN, NJ — A Woodbridge man has been arrested after police say he fired a gun multiple times at an occupied car driving down a Linden street in May.

Eddie Germain, 20, was arrested without incident on June 7, said Linden Police.

On May 12, Linden Police Officers went to the 500 block of Bower Street on reports of a shooting.

Officers found two shell casings from the area, but were unable to find any suspects or victims.

A subsequent three-week investigation, led by the Linden Police Juvenile Aid Bureau, identified Germain as the shooter.

Detectives allege that Germain produced a handgun and fired multiple times at an occupied vehicle as it traveled on Bower Street, said police.

Germain is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Germain is also charged as a certain persons prohibited from
possessing a weapon, a crime of the second degree.

He was remanded to the Essex County Jail pending a scheduled appearance in Superior Court.

"We are extremely proud of the work done by our Police Officers and Detectives to identify those responsible for violent crimes and bring them to justice," said Linden Police Chief David Hart. "We have already arrested and charged more than 15 individuals this year in connection with violent
crimes committed against our community, and we will continue to aggressively pursue anyone who
threatens the safety of our relatives, friends, and neighbors."

This incident remains under investigation, and Detectives said they believe it may be related to other recent violence in the area.
