East Orange Teachers Call For Raises, Picket School Board Meeting
This week's picket line comes after the district recently laid off dozens of staff members due to budget cuts.
EAST ORANGE, NJ — Dozens of teachers in the East Orange Public School District showed up at a school board meeting this week to call for raises.
Educators affiliated with the East Orange Education Association (EOEA) held a picket line outside the board of education’s meeting on Monday.
Contract talks between the union and district administrators have stalled following a proposal in November that was rejected by the EOEA. One teacher claimed that they make the same amount of money now as they did nearly four years ago, News 12 New Jersey reported.
