The Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) program aims to change that, spokespeople said:

“The GUIDE Model helps Medicare beneficiaries with dementia remain at home by funding local care organizations to provide fully covered services such as respite care, caregiver education, 24/7 professional support and medication reviews. The federal pilot program launched in summer 2024 and expanded this past July to include several organizations in New Jersey.”

“We know that caring for someone with dementia is not just a 9-to-5 job,” said Seth Weisleder, owner of Caring Senior Service of Essex County.

“With GUIDE, we can finally tell caregivers and family members that they don’t have to shoulder this on their own – and they don’t have to pay for help,” Weisleder said.

“That could be a game changer for many families who have been struggling in silence,” Weisleder said.

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, dementia affected more than 6.7 million Americans in 2023, and 14 million cases are projected by 2060.
