Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court
The West Orange Municipal Court imposed justice for serious driving offenses, shoplifting and theft cases, and a possession of drug paraphernalia case.

In State v. Jesus Mejia, of Roselle Park, the State charged defendant with driving while intoxicated and also driving while suspended on February 26. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charges. The Court suspended defendant's driver's license for an additional 3 months (the new suspension terms on each charge to run concurrently), and required defendant to participate at a New Jersey Intoxicated Driver Resource Center Program for 12 hours. The Court also imposed $1,191 in fines and costs ($658 on the DWI and $533 on the second charge).
In State v. David Wright, of East Orange, the State charged defendant with shoplifting $85 worth of merchandise from Macy’s on February 14. After a trial, defendant was found guilty. The Court sentenced defendant to 180 days in jail and imposed $258 in fines and costs.
In State v. Sandra McDonald, of Orange, the State charged defendant with shoplifting from K-Mart on March 11th. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced defendant to 90 days in jail (which term was suspended), and imposed $458 in fines and costs.

In State v. Fallon Davis, of East Orange, the State charged defendant with theft of $297.88 in groceries from ShopRite on August 12, 2011. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced defendant to 180 days in jail (which term was suspended), and imposed one year of probation and $358 in fines and costs.
In State v. Joshua Wisner, of Blairstown, the State charged defendant with possession of drug paraphernalia on June 11, 2010. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court imposed a year of probation and $808 in fines and costs.
