Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court

The Municipal Court handled four criminal cases.

In State v. Jose Flores, of Orange, the State charged defendant with driving while intoxicated ("DWI"). Defendant pleaded guilty. The Court suspended defendant's driver's license for seven months, required defendant to use an interlock device to assure that defendant has not been drinking for six months thereafter, and required defendant to participate at a New Jersey Intoxicated Driver Resource Center Program for 12 hours. The Court also imposed a total of $664 in fines and penalties. 

In State v. Shamel Esperance, of West Orange, the State charged defendant with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court imposed a total of $1,008 in fines and penalties.

In State v. John Palazzolo, of Succasunna, the State charged defendant with defiant trespass. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Court imposed a $100 fine, $33 costs, $50 VCCB (Violent Crimes Compensation Board) penalty, and $75 Safe Neighborhood assessment.

In State v. Michele Defrance, of East Hanover, the State charged defendant for seeking to obtain drugs. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court imposed a $250 fine, $33 costs, $50 VCCB penalty, $75 Safe Neighborhood assessment.
