Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court
The West Orange Municipal Court imposed justice for serious driving offenses.

In State v. Wesley Lawyer, of Brooklyn, the State charged defendant with driving while intoxicated ("DWI") and also with refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test on March 3rd. Defendant pleaded guilty to both charges. The Court suspended defendant's driver's license for a total of seven months, and required defendant to participate at a New Jersey Intoxicated Driver Resource Center Program for 12 hours. The Court also imposed a total of $1,053 in fines and costs ($614 in fines and costs on the DWI Count and another $439 on the refusal Count).
In State v. Panel Dalce, of East Orange, the State charged defendant (whose license had previously been suspended) with exhibiting a false document on August 31, 2011. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced defendant to 10 days in jail. The Court also suspended defendant’s driver’s license for an additional 6 months, and imposed $1,039 in fines and costs.
In State v. Robert Alex, of West Caldwell, the State charged defendant with driving a vehicle on July 17, 2011, while his license was suspended. Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court suspended defendant's driver's license for an additional 60 days and imposed a total of $789 in fines and costs.
