PATCH: What background or professional experience qualifies you for the job?
ADAM KRAEMER: I have grown up in New Jersey, and graduated from Columbia High (Maplewood - South Orange). I know district 27 very well. I have worked in education and in the business world. I graduated from Colgate University and have two masters degrees from Teachers College Columbia and I have a good bit of teaching experience. I have worked in credit and collection for many years and know budgets and accounting. Also, I am triplet dad and have three young adult children.
PATCH: What is your campaign platform? What are your priorities if elected?
ADAM KRAEMER: Making New Jersey affordable and safe by shrinking the size and scope of government to maximize individual liberty. By ending or changing land use law, the market can incentivize home building and increase the supply of housing and thus decrease home prices. We need to tax and regulate less so business expansion can improve prosperity. We need to prioritize nuclear and natural gas and have market incentives to build such power generation to end costs. I am running a low budget campaign and I am not owing anything to special interest groups. The Republicans have been the minority party in the legislature for a quarter century and for almost eight years, a Democrat has been governor. In the last seven years, the budget of the state has grown over 90% or much more than inflation. Ask yourself: Has your income grown 90%? Has New Jersey Transit been improved? Are the roads better? Are the schools better? Are property taxes lower? Time to change how you vote.
PATCH: What is one thing that always makes you smile when you think about New Jersey’s 27th District?
ADAM KRAEMER: I find great people with great stories behind them. I love living in the Jewish community in Redwood and Pleasantdale part of West Orange. I love our county parks in Essex County – I hope to serve in office to make the economics of living here reasonable so retires can stay here near grandchildren and so young families can afford to come here.
