Report: West Orange School District Sports Program Ranked in Top 100
Niche.com, a website dedicated to evaluating schools based on parent and student reviews, ranked the best sports programs in New Jersey.

The West Orange School District sports program has been ranked in the top 100 best in the state of New Jersey, according to a report.
Niche.com, a website dedicated to evaluating U.S. and Puerto Rican schools based on parent and student reviews, ranked the best sports programs by school district in New Jersey. West Orange School District came in at No. 85.
The ranking of best sports programs gives a “comprehensive assessment” of the quality of the sports and fitness programs offered by school districts, Niche.com said. The website uses various government and public data, as well as their own proprietary data.

Student and parent opinions are heavily weighted in the rankings, carrying 45 percent of the weight in considered factors.
Additional factors and their considered weight include: number of sports, 20 percent; female athletes, 15 percent; male athletes, 15 percent; and expenses per student, 5 percent.

West Orange School District received a 4.2 out of 5 from 30 respondents on the parent/student surveys. The school district has 17 sports and its reported expenses per students is $20,677, according to Niche.com.

- “There are many opportunities for students at the high, they can exercise freely after school n gym teacher even help train them. Our teams are pretty good but we could use a little more school spirit.”
- “I’m not much of a sports fan and I have only played freshman volleyball, but from what I notice everything in the athletic department seems to be average or slightly above average.”
- “Like any other school some teams are good others are not, but they all work hard, compete, try their best, and make them games fun to go to.”
