Rho Gamma Omega and Beta Alpha Omega Chapters Partner With NJ Tree Foundation to Plant Trees in Newark

The Rho Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, joined the New Jersey Tree Foundation on Saturday, May 17, 2025, to plant trees at the New Jersey Regional Day School in Newark. This collaborative service initiative was conducted alongside the Beta Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® which serves the Newark community.

Together with NJ Tree Foundation staff, volunteers planted 12 new trees throughout the school’s garden and surrounding grounds. These plantings will help beautify the campus, provide shade, improve air quality, and create a healthier outdoor environment for students and local residents.

This effort also supports Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®’s broader environmental mission to plant at least 19,800 trees annually worldwide as part of its commitment to sustainability, climate awareness, and community beautification.

“This initiative reflects our shared dedication to service, environmental stewardship, and uplifting our communities,” the chapters shared. “By partnering together, we continue to SOAR and deepen our impact across New Jersey.”

The New Jersey Tree Foundation, a statewide nonprofit, empowers communities to plant and care for trees in underserved neighborhoods. Volunteers from both chapters worked with energy and enthusiasm as they dug, mulched, planted, and learned about the long-term benefits of community-based tree planting.

Rho Gamma Omega remains committed to championing environmental sustainability and giving back to the local community through ongoing service initiatives.
