Sandy Damaged, Impacted More Than 2,500 in West Orange
A recent statewide study shows 1,890 businesses were affected by the storm and 654 residents with property damage, two of which were more than $28,800.

More than 2,500 West Orange residents and businesses were impacted by Superstorm Sandy last October.
Two homes in town were categorized as severely damaged, with costs more than $28,800, and 651 residences had an estimated damage of $8,000 and $28,800, according to a report last week from NJ Spotlight.
Throughout West Orange, a total of 1,890 businesses were affected by the storm, while only two rental units were damaged. One home incurred damage under $8,000.

According to the data, minor damage is considered up to $8,000, major damage is defined as costing between $8,000 to $28,800 and severe damage is more than $28,800.
Statewide, nearly 87,000 housing units were damaged. About 12,500 of those sustained major damage or were destroyed.
