The Smithereens to Headline Benefit Concert in Memory of Murdered Livingston Teen
The memorial concert at the Wellmont Theater will support the Brendan P. Tevlin '13 Memorial Fund, which will help improve athletic fields.

On Nov. 30, hundreds will gather at the historic Wellmont Theater in downtown Montclair to honor the memory of Brendan Tevlin, the 19-year-old Livingston resident who was tragically killed in a fatal shooing while he was stopped at a light in West Orange last June.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the Brendan P. Tevlin ’13 Memorial Fund, which is dedicated to making improvements to the Seton Hall Prep athletic fields, where he loved to play lacrosse. Tevlin was a 2013 graduate of Seton Hall Prep. All are encouraged to show their support for Brendan’s parents, Allison and Michael by attending the concert.
The show will exclusively feature New Jersey bands, with the Smithereens headlining the concert. The Defending Champions of Montclair, and The Altman Brothers Band of Basking Ridge will round up the line up.

The concert, which will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday night, will be emceed by WPLG’s Tood Pettengill, who spoke about the threat of domestic terrorism on his radio show after Tevlin’s murder.
Police have charged Ali Muhammad Brown, a registered sex offender and alleged domestic terrorist, with the killing of Tevlin and three other men. In a confession to Police, Brown stated that the murders were an act of vengeance for those who were killed by American troops in the Middle East.

The “Good Vibes and Easy Living” memorial concert this evening is just one of many tributes that have been made to Tevlin’s memory. On Monday, Oct. 20, Livingston Township officials passed a resolution to rename a township field “Brendan Tevlin Memorial Field.”
In addition, St. Mary’s Academy in Hackettstown is planning to change the school name in 2015 to St. Brendan’s Academy, in honor of Tevlin, NJ.com reports.
Close friends also organized a lacrosse tournament in August, and hundreds attended a memorial service at the University of Richmond, where Tevlin was a freshman in college. A Twitter account has been set up to publicize the concert and pay tribute to Tevlin’s memory.
