West Orange Township officials informed residents of a road closure in the township due to ongoing water main construction by New Jersey American Water Company.
Beginning Monday, April 20, Mt. Pleasant Avenue between Pleasant Valley Way and Prospect Avenue will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Road closures will take place for about eight weeks, through mid-June, township officials said.
N.J. American Water is constructing a new 16-inch diameter water main in this area of Mt. Pleasant Avenue. Motorists will used Interstate Route 280 as the detour around the construction area.

According to West Orange Township, residents of the Englishtown section of West Orange, bound by Mt. Pleasant Avenue on the south, Route 280 on the north and Pleasant Valley Way on the west, will use Pleasant Valley Way to enter or leave the area via Buckingham Road or Mt. Pleasant Place. Residents who live along this section of Mt. Pleasant Avenue will access or leave their homes using the nearest local street in Englishtown to or from Pleasant Valley Way and Buckingham Road or Mt. Pleasant Place.
Customers of commercial properties near Pleasant Valley Way will use Pleasant Valley Way to access and leave while customers or employees of those properties near Prospect Avenue and Marion Drive will use Marion Drive to or from Prospect Avenue and Rooney Circle, the township said.
