TRAFFIC ALERT: Upcoming Bridge Construction Forces Road Closure
Essex County officials announced upcoming road closures due to bridge construction.

Essex County officials informed residents of upcoming road closures in West Orange due to upcoming construction on an existing pedestrian bridge.
South Orange Avenue between Cherry Lane/Brookside Drive and Wyoming Avenue will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, officials said. The road is being closed so a pedestrian bridge can be removed and a temporary bridge installed over the roadway.
“Closing South Orange Avenue will be an inconvenience for motorists traveling to work or school or going about their daily business. However, it must be done to maximize safety for drivers, pedestrians and construction crews,” Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo said. “We ask motorists to follow our detour, plan alternate routes and give themselves additional time to travel. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and look forward to a new and improved South Orange Avenue.”
