TV Show Will Film Footage Of West Orange Via Helicopter (See Details)

A television series will be capturing footage from a helicopter above West Orange this week.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — If you hear a helicopter circling above West Orange on Tuesday, don’t panic, officials say – it’s only a film crew shooting footage for an upcoming television series.

A municipal advisory offers more details about the helicopter activity that will take place on Sept. 10:

“20th Television is currently in production of the upcoming television series ‘TBIM’ and will be filming in West Orange, NJ. Please be aware that there will be helicopter activity in conjunction with our production on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from approximately 9 to 10:30 a.m. Please be [assured] that the production will have all necessary permits required for our activity.”

Earlier this year, the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission included West Orange on a list of 14 municipalities and four counties that it has deemed a “Film Ready Community.”

Each of the awardees has completed the Film Ready New Jersey Program, a state-led training and certification process that prepares towns to work with movie and television producers – and market themselves as potential film destinations. West Orange’s town council recently voted to approve a redevelopment agreement that could bring a new movie studio to the township.

Recent filming in West Orange has included “Walking Dead” spinoff show, “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” and “Exhibiting Forgiveness,” which was selected to screen at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

The town has also dabbled in its own moviemaking efforts, recently releasing a promotional video that aims to attract more businesses – and homeowners – to the township.
