Weather Update: Thunderstorms Predicted in West Orange on Thursday

If you are planning on venturing outside in West Orange during the remainder of this week, you might want to bring an umbrella with you.

Wednesday weather forecasters are predicting mostly sunny and a high near 85 degrees and a low near 69 Wednesday night. However, the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook and is predicting “heavy rain” and chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.

Skies should clear up by Saturday, but residents will be met with more chances of rain to start next week. Temperatures will remain in or near the 80s through Sunday despite the chance of thunderstorms, the NWS predicts.

• Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 72 by 5 p.m. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
• Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 68 by 9 p.m., then rising to around 82 during the remainder of the night. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
• Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 68 by 5 p.m. West wind 7 to 11 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a temperature falling to near 64 by 8 p.m., then rising to around 79 during the remainder of the night.
• Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 81.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.
• Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
• Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
