West Orange Boys Soccer Team Captures 2025 NJSIAA Group 4 State Championship
For the first time since 2013, West Orange Boys Soccer captured the NJSIAA Group 4 state crown.

The West Orange Mountaineers are state champions! For the first time since 2013, West Orange Boys Soccer captured the NJSIAA Group 4 state crown, rolling to a 5-0 victory over North Brunswick at Franklin High School.
From the first whistle, the Mountaineers were in control. Darius Millington ('27) opened the scoring just two minutes in and added a second goal in the 29th minute. UCLA commit and captain Marcus Jackson ('26) made it 3-0 before halftime, and Joseph Castillo ('27) and captain Carl Hall ('26) completed the scoring in the second half. Goalie Agustin Arrieta ('27) kept a clean sheet, making key saves to deny North Brunswick any momentum.

The team’s defensive unit, anchored by Jackson, Niko Chiovaro ('27), and Chase Winds ('28), allowed only 13 goals all season, while the midfield smothered North Brunswick’s attack.

The Mountaineers received a special escort from the West Orange Police Department, ensuring the team could celebrate safely on the way to the stadium, a perfect kickoff to a town-wide celebration in blue and white.
Principal Oscar Guerrero, who cheered from the sidelines, shared his pride: “Our students, families, and staff rallied behind a team that represents the very best of West Orange. This championship is more than a win — it’s a moment our whole community shares.”

Following the championship, NJ.com recognized West Orange’s standout performers, naming Darius Millington (‘27) as MVP and Marcus Jackson (‘26) and Jatniel Vargas Espino (‘27) as stars of the game.
With goals flying early, a rock-solid defense, and unmatched team chemistry, the 2025 Mountaineers wrote a story for the ages. The championship banner will now hang proudly over a state championship season that will not be forgotten.
