West Orange Crime - See The Latest Data

The Department of Law and Public Safety has released the latest crime data in its Uniform Crime Report.

The Department of Law and Public Safety today, April 17, released the 2013 Uniform Crime Report (UCR), which shows crime data for the state and municipalities.

West Orange had an increase in violent crime in 2013 from 2012, the UCR said. The township also had an increase in non-violent crime in 2013, compared to the previous year.

The Department of Law and Public Safety’s report indicated New Jersey’s overall crime rate decreased by seven percent in 2013, compared to 2012, according to a press release from the department.

West Orange reported 82 violent crimes in 2013, up from 68 in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 people increased from 1.5 to 1.8, the report said. The township saw an increase in non-violent crime, from 664 in 2012 to 689 in 2013. The non-violent crime rate per 1,000 increased, from 14.2 in 2012 to 14.8 in 2013.
