West Orange High School Boys Basketball Clinches Colonial Division Title

The West Orange High School boys basketball team finished the season with a record of 16-6.

The West Orange High School boys basketball team has wonthe Colonial Division title in the Super Essex Conference for the first time since 2003.

West Orange, which finished the regular season with a record of 16-6, clinched the title after a rout over Central Jersey College Charter on Feb. 20, 86-20. The Mountaineers continued their hot streak in their next game defeating Bridgewater-Rarityan 67-58 on Feb. 24, before falling to East Orange on Feb. 26 to the score of 66-44.

“We’ve come a long way this year,” second-year West Orange head coach Greg Tynes said. “It wasn’t until halfway through the season that the team really came together.”

After clinching the Colonial Division Championship, West Orange heads into the 2015 NJSIAA Tournament (North 1, Group 4) as ninth seed and will play eighth seed Livingston High School at Livingston on Monday, March 2, beginning at 7 p.m.
