WEST ORANGE, NJ — Several high-achieving staff members in the West Orange Public School District earned a nod as "teacher or educator of the year" at a recent board of education meeting.
Principals from each school announced their “Educator and Educational Services Professional of the Year” recipients during the board’s meeting on Feb. 24.

“Highlights of the evening included Hazel teacher Stacie Varanelli's third-grade class coming to cheer her on, fellow teachers in attendance to support each other, and Washington's ESL Brandi Brennan celebrating with family and friends, many of whom not only graduated from West Orange schools, but now work for the district and township. In a particularly somber moment, Liberty principal Xavier Fitzgeral emotionally recognized teacher Academic Intervention Patricia Hack, who suddenly passed away in November.”
