West Orange Will Change Jitney Bus Schedule For 2025
"NJ Transit implemented new morning and evening train schedules which adversely affected our jitney ridership."
WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange will be making some changes to its jitney bus schedule to kick off 2025.
The town provides free jitney service to three nearby train stations: Orange, South Orange and Brick Church. It runs in the mornings from 6 to 9 a.m., and the evenings from 5 to 8:30 p.m. For more information or assistance, contact 973-325-4134.
According to a municipal advisory, the schedule changes will go into effect on Monday, Jan. 6. Here’s why they’re needed, town officials said:

“In November 2024, NJ Transit implemented new morning and evening train schedules which adversely affected our jitney ridership. These recent changes have made it necessary for the township to adjust the schedules of all six jitney routes to accommodate the needs of our ridership and hopefully help shorten wait times during morning and evening commutes.”
Here’s what to know if you plan on riding the bus, the advisory states:
PICKUP FROM HOTEL – The Route 6 pick-up will be available at The Wilshire Grand Hotel. The jitney service at B'nai Shalom will be discontinued. Route 6 parking permits will be available in a designated area in the Wilshire Grand Hotel parking lot. To obtain a parking permit, please call (973) 325-4160 or email engineering@westorange.org

2 NEW STOPS – Two additional stops will be added to Route 6 at Mountain Avenue/Moore Terrace and Moore Terrace/Valley Way. The new pick-up times will be reflected in the Passio GO app effective January 6, 2025. The Passio GO app is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
