MDT (Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy), also known as the McKenzie Method, is a reliable, internationally standardized assessment system that allows therapists to determine the kind of problem with which a patient is presenting and streamline the most effective treatment for it. It is the most researched assessment and treatment system and can be applied to all musculoskeletal conditions.
Mechanical Therapy is the combination of scientific rigor and the art of working with people. At Atlantic Orthopedic Physical therapy, we aim to excel in both. We are one of the very few clinics in the area to offer MDT and accept insurances including Medicare, workers compensation and PIP (motor vehicle trauma). Our philosophy is to resolve a client’s problem in as few visits as possible, as well as to support their independence from a therapist, medication, or invasive interventions. We achieve this through competent assessments and targeted interventions as well as patient education and empowerment with effective self-treatment tools.
