Williams Rejoins West Orange Town Council, Fills Vacancy Left By Ghebremicael

Tammy Williams was officially sworn into office following her victory in the November special election.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange officially has a new town council member – and she’s a familiar face.

Tammy Williams was officially sworn into office following her Election Day victory at the council meeting on Nov. 24. The oath of office was administered by New Jersey state senator and former West Orange mayor John McKeon.

In November, West Orange residents voted in a special election to fill an unexpired term for Asmeret Ghebremicael, who resigned earlier this year. The candidates were Williams, Kenneth Gibbons, David Allan-Matheson, Jerry Companion, Jennifer Stacey Iorio, Bill Rutherford, and Justin Goldsman.

Williams, a former council president, won the race by more than 800 votes.
