Affordable Senior Housing Complex Underway in Colonia

A new senior affordable housing building is coming to Colonia.

Developer Ingerman has received $4.6 million in Community Development Block Grants and $865,000 in tax credits to construct Reinhard Manor, a 62-unit complex of affordable senior housing units, according to a press release from the company. 

The new building will go up at 350 Outlook Ave. in Colonia, and will consist of one and two-bedroom rental apartments. 

“Reinhard Manor represents a new redevelopment project that transforms a long-time vacant and unused school facility into a vibrant new residential community," Mayor John McCormac said, in a prepared statement. “Ingerman did a first-class job in opening Maple Tree Manor, and we know first-hand that the company has a stand-out reputation."

A waiting list for the new building has already come together, McCormac said. 

Construction is slated to begin in the second week of November, according to Ingerman.

Reinhard Manor is one of four affordable housing projects that Ingerman is to construct using a total of $18.65 million in Community Development Block Grant funding and approximately $3.5 million in tax credits. 

A 70-unit, mixed-use development is to be built in Perth Amboy, 76 senior apartment homes are to be built in the Township of Ocean in Ocean County, and a 65-unit unit housing complex is to be built in Burlington City in Burlington County, according to the company.
