Get Ready For The Woodbridge St. Patrick's Day Parade This Sunday

Get your green ready! The Woodbridge St. Patrick's Day parade is the largest parade in the state.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — The Woodbridge St. Patrick's Day Parade is this Sunday, March 9.

The parade is one of the largest celebrations of Irish-American heritage in New Jersey; it is the largest parade in the state.

The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. in front of Woodbridge High School. The parade marches down Main Street and ends at Woodbridge Town Hall. A ceremony recognizing the honorees will be held at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers followed by the Irish flag raising in the Woodbridge town hall parking lot.

Woodbridge resident and retired Township employee Ed McSherry is parade grand marshal this year. McSherry's grandparents hail from Ireland. He is a parishioner at St. James Catholic Church, is a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Woodbridge Democratic County Committee and American Irish Association of Woodbridge.

Sean Daly is Irish Man of the Year and Peggy Foley is Irish Woman of the Year.

Alesandra McFadden, whose grandparents are Kathy and Jim McFadden of Woodbridge, is Miss American Irish this year. She lives in Clark.

Katelyn Driscoll, a teenager from Middletown, is Irish Lady-in Waiting. Her grandparents, John and Barbara Reitmann, are members of the Woodbridge American Irish Association. Driscoll is a freshman at Middletown High School South, where she is active in Midddletown's theater program. She says her favorite place to be is on the stage.
