Medical Building At MetroPark Will Open This Fall, Followed By 230 Apartments

Hackensack Meridian also plans to relocate its corporate offices, currently in Edison, to the top floors of their new MetroPark building.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Hackensack Meridian's Health & Wellness Center at the MetroPark train station is scheduled to open this fall.

This is the six-story medical building currently under construction at MetroPark. After the Health & Wellness Center opens, construction will begin on the 230-unit apartment building that will also be built at the train station.

On Friday, Hackensack Meridian held a topping-off ceremony at the site, where the final beam was placed on the structural frame.

The Health & Wellness Center is the first in New Jersey to be located at a major transit hub. Once it opens, Hackensack Meridian Health says the facility will offer "easily accessible medical care for the thousands of people traveling the entire Northeast, including New York City, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington D.C., along Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor line."

Hackensack Meridian also plans to relocate its corporate offices, currently in Edison, to the upper floors of their new MetroPark building.

"The Health & Wellness Center at MetroPark (will be) just steps away from a patient’s daily commute," Hackensack Meridian CEO Robert Garrett said Friday.

The building will have primary care, medical specialties, surgical specialties, sports medicine, a spine center, advanced imaging, phlebotomy, rehabilitation, a retail pharmacy, occupational health and an urgent care.

"The development will bring much-needed healthcare providers and services to our Township," said Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, who was at the ceremony on Friday.

DOR, a consortium led by Russo Development with partners Onyx Equities and Terminal Construction, is the developer of the 230-unit apartment building, which will have ground-floor retail and restaurants. DOR was awarded a $110-million tax credit grant to build the apartments at MetroPark. Gov. Phil Murphy wants to modernize transportation hubs throughout the state, and make train stations multi-use locations where people live, work, shop and play.

“On behalf of our partners Onyx Equities and Terminal Construction, we could not be more pleased with the opportunity to redefine the MetroPark station and Hackensack Meridian’s vision in creating its new life,” said Ed Russo, president of Russo Development.

Onyx Equities provided the financing.
