EDISON, NJ — The 15-year-old Middlesex County girl who was struck by an alleged drunk driver in a car crash the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is still in the hospital, fighting to survive.
This is as of Tuesday, nearly a week after the crash, said a spokeswoman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor.
The teen girl was in the car with her father and stepmother when they were hit by a young woman at 1:32 a.m. last Thursday, on Rt. 1 north at Parsonage Road in Edison Township. Police say Alyssa Figueredo, 31, of Cranford, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Her blood tests have not come back yet, so the prosecutor could not release any more specifics.

Police say Figueredo drove through a red light on Rt. 1 and struck a car driven by Diego Mejia, 39, an Edison resident. Mejia was seriously injured, however his wife, Jessica Naranjo, 35, of Woodbridge, and his 15 year-old daughter suffered life-threatening injuries.
As of Tuesday, Naranjo is stable and expected to be discharged from the hospital. However, the 15-year-old girl is still in critical condition, said the spokeswoman.
