Middlesex County Moving Company Fined $5K For Operating Without A License

The NJ Division of Consumer Affairs said it identified a total of 11 moving companies across the state that are operating without a license:

CARTERET, NJ — A moving company located in Middlesex County was fined $5,000 by the state of New Jersey for operating without a license.

The moving company is Royalty Moving Systems LLC, located in Carteret; Alex Vermes listed as its principal. The state says it must pay a $5,000 fine.

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs said it identified a total of 11 moving companies across the state that are operating without a license, and advertising online. State investigators set up a sting in October where they asked these companies to meet them at a location in Hamilton, expecting to find a storage facility full of items to move. They were instead met by a team of state investigators looking for proof of license.

NJ State Police officers from their Mobile Safe Freight Unit were also waiting there. They conducted motor vehicle safety inspections on their trucks.

In New Jersey, home improvement contracting businesses and moving companies are required to have a license.
