Old Bridge Police Mourn ‘Untimely’ Death Of Officer

OLD BRIDGE, NJ – The Old Bridge Police Department is mourning the untimely passing of Officer Andrew Paterek, Chief Thomas Montagna said.

Paterek passed away suddenly on the night of June 23 at his home in Monroe. He was 32.

Described as a “young and dedicated member” of the Old Bridge Police Department, Paterek served the department and community for the past 2.5 years.

“Though his time with us was brief, he made a lasting impact through his professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to public service,” Montagna said.

“Rest in peace, Officer Paterek. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Born in Red Bank, Paterek was raised in Tinton Falls and has resided in Monroe since 1999.

He graduated from Monroe Township High School in 2011 and furthered his education at Brookdale Community College and Jersey City University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2021, according to his obituary.

'He loved his family and enjoyed researching the family tree and collecting old photographs. He liked to travel and loved animals, especially his dogs. He was a member of the Old Bridge Township PBA Local 127,” his obituary said.

He is survived by his parents, Brian and Victoria (Vasselli) Paterek of Monroe, his sister Sarah Marie Paterek of Brooklyn, aunts, uncles, cousins and many other extended family members and friends.
