Right Lane Of Rt. 1 Closed For Next Several Weeks Between Edison, Woodbridge
Starting Tuesday and lasting for the next several weeks, the right lane of Rt. 1 north will be closed between Edison and Woodbridge:
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Starting Tuesday and lasting for the next several weeks, the right lane of Rt. 1 north will be closed between Edison and Woodbridge, the NJ DOT announced in this press release.
From 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, and continuing daily for the next several weeks (9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday - Friday), the right lane of Rt. 1 north between Townsley Street in Edison and the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge will be closed for inlet repairs and concrete curb work.
Work is expected to begin near Townsley Street and progress north to the Garden State Parkway and then proceed onto Rt. 1 southbound.

At least two lanes of Rt. 1 north will be kept open at all times.
This work is expected to take several weeks. After that, overnight Rt. 1 lane closures for milling and paving are expected to begin in May.

Drivers are advised to use caution, slow down and move over, if possible.
The $3.2 million federally funded pavement preservation project is designed to extend the pavement life, improve safety and enhance ride quality for motorists on a 2.5 mile stretch of Rt. 1 in both directions between Townsley Street in Edison and the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2025.
