School #18 Creates Bottle Cap Mural of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night

The mural measures 8 feet by 12 feet.

Indiana School #18 school has been recycling bottle caps for two years to create an 8 foot by 12 foot mural of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night, which they just recently completed.

"The mural was a great way to introduce Vincent Van gogh to my Art classes," Woodbridge Township District Art Teacher Danielle Tobia said.

This year, the school received a $250 grant to finish the mural by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.  The grant allowed them to buy screws to drill each cap in to ensure this mural will last a very long time.

Currently, the mural has over 8,000 caps.  Parents from School 18 volunteered many days and hours to drill the screws in the caps. School #1 also helped recycle the bottle caps for the mural.

The mural is looking for a permanent location somewhere within the school.
