Woodbridge High School Staff Member Suspended Amid Investigation

A Woodbridge High School vice principal is currently being investigated by the school district for controversial social media posts.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Woodbridge High School vice principal has been suspended while under investigation by the school district.

At their most recent meeting on Oct. 16, the Woodbridge school board approved a suspension with pay for Mohammed Elbanna effective retroactively from Oct. 11. The suspension will continue pending further investigation, the district said.

The details surrounding the suspension were not immediately provided. During the public comment portion of the meeting, Woodbridge resident Paul Lund inquired about the matter, citing "controversial posts."

In response, Board president Daniel Harris said: "It's a personnel item. I can't get into details." Harris noted the matter would be addressed later in the meeting. "We've heard those same allegations and we are investigating."

The board's lawyer then said they are not permitted to comment on personnel matters "and so we are not going to be getting into specifics. But certainly ... there is some information that the board has received and the district is investing. I believe there is an agenda item that speaks for itself."

Elbanna's suspension with pay is listed on page 52 of last week's school board agenda.

Elbanna did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Patch.

At the meeting, a second resident stood up and said he personally had seen comments or posts made online. He called them "disgusting."
