Woodbridge Twp. Opens 11 Cooling Centers, Gives Away Fans To Seniors
These 11 locations can be used to escape the heat, charge cell phones, laptops, etc.:
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — As the temperature will near 100 degrees Wednesday and Thursday, Woodbridge Township opened 11 emergency cooling centers this week.
These locations can also be used to charge cell phones, laptops, etc.
“The Township has opened cooling centers at 11 locations throughout Woodbridge convenient to residents who do not have air conditioning and who need to obtain relief from the extremely hot temperatures,” said Mayor John McCormac. “Senior and disabled residents, along with individuals with respiratory problems and those with medical conditions, should take precautions and obtain relief from the extremely hot conditions expected over the next several days.”

Also, the Woodbridge Dept. of Senior Services is sponsoring a fan donation program where senior citizen, economically disadvantaged or disabled residents who do not have cooling devices in their homes can receive a free fan.

To be eligible to receive a free fan, applicants must be a resident of Woodbridge Township, not have any cooling device or, due to illness and/or disability, cannot leave their home to go to a cooling center.
To apply to get a fan, or donate a fan, contact the Woodbridge Department of Senior Services at 732-726 6262.
And check on your neighbors in the extreme heat.
“If you know someone who may be at risk for heat stress, take a few minutes to check on them periodically throughout the day and night. You may be saving a life,” Mayor McCormac said.
