Put Christmas Trees Curbside for Collection

The Department of Public Works will start collecting Christmas trees Monday, Jan. 3.

Residents are encouraged to place their trees at the curb for collection. They must be free of all ornaments, stands, tinsel and other decorations. The trees should not be wrapped in plastic nor placed in plastic bags.

The discarded trees are chipped, and the chips will be available to residents in the spring at the Recycling and Conservation Center, 476 W. Main St.

The township advises that trees will not be collected by the regular trash collectors. The DPW will start in District 1 and proceed through District 8, with the second and final round tentatively scheduled to start on Jan. 10.

After the conclusion of the collection period, residents must bring discarded trees to the Recycling Center, which is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.
