Bergen Ice-Skating Coach Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child

Andrew Lavrik, 31, engaged in inappropriate conduct with a minor in Edgewater in November, authorities said.

A Hackensack ice-skating coach was charged with criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation by authorities, acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced.

Andrew Lavrik, 31, of Hackensack was arrested Thursday, Calo said. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for Monday.

The Edgewater Police Department received a report that Lavrik engaged in "inappropriate conduct" with a minor there in November, Calo said.

The prosecutor's office Special Victims Unit and the Edgewater Police Department investigated and Lavrik was arrested.

The endangering the welfare of a child offense was a second-degree charge. The criminal sexual contact offense was a fourth-degree charge.
