Shotmeyer was elected as State Committeewoman for the Bergen County Republican Organization.

Darlene Shotmeyer ran against Betty Krystyniak for the seat of State Committeewoman of the Bergen County Republican Organization. Shotmeyer won the election by a vote of 143 to 85.

“I would just like to thank everyone that came out and supported us,” said Shotmeyer, of Franklin Lakes. “I’ve been coming to a lot of these events and supporting everything from the background for 23 years and I’m happy to be on board and be a part of it now.

Both candidates were glowing and confident as the election began but as the Chairman of the Bergen County Republican Organization Robert Yudin said there could only be one winner.

“Unfortunately we can’t have two winners because either candidate would be excellent,” he said.  “Both candidates would have done an great job for us but we are absolutely excited to have Mrs. Shotmeyer as a part of the team. We all have a lesson to learn about the way these two women ran their campaign. This was a class campaign.”

Shotmeyer’s main responsibilities will include fund raising for and working on the campaign of Gov. Chris Christie for re-election.
